Have you found head lice on your child’s head? DON’T PANIC if you have!! They can easily be treated.
First things first. This is NOT a life-threatening condition, so there is no need to worry. Head lice are a common occurrence among school children. It is not a sign of bad hygiene. Head lice like clean hair more than dirty hair.
Once you are sure your child has head lice, there are three things you need to do:
- Inspect child’s head (also check the rest of the family if child has lice)
- Treat all infestations
- Find out whom they have been in contact with and let them know, particularly their school
Remember, head lice are transferred through close contact. If you find head lice on your child, it is important to check the rest of the family too as they may also be infected.
